Ⅰ. INTRODUCTION
About ZJWEU
Zhejiang University of Water Resources and Electric Power is the only applied undergraduate engineering university in Zhejiang Province with a focus on water conservancy and hydro-power. It is the sole university which both the Ministry of Water Resources and the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province are in charge of its development, and the only one awarded both title of “National Civilized Community” and “National Civilized Campus”. In 2019, it was listed as a pilot model institution for applied high-education construction in Zhejiang Province, and in 2020, it was designated as one of three units in China cultivating talents for the Ministry of Water Resources. The school’s various undertakings have entered a period of vigorous development.
ZJWEU has two campuses, Qiantang campus in Hangzhou and Nanxun campus in Huzhou, encompassing a combined area of 2501.7 acres, with a construction space totaling 732,400 square meters. Currently, the university has 14,691 full-time students,including12,801undergraduates, and 1,890 students in programs such as junior college majors, preparatory courses, and international programs.The university boasts a workforce of 944 individuals, with 669 dedicated to full-time teaching. Notably, 34% of these educators have acquired senior professional titles, and an overwhelming 92% hold postgraduate or higher degrees. The faculty comprises nearly 50 individuals who have received special allowances from the State Council, national model teachers, recipients of the May 1st Labor Medal in Zhejiang Province, talents recognized by the “Five Ones Project” in Zhejiang Province, provincial “151 Talents”, provincial teaching experts, heads of first-class disciplines in the province, young academic leaders in the province, leading talents in provincial universities, and foreign experts.
ZJWEU is centered around teachers and students. Over the past 70 years since its establishment, it has adhered to the motto of “erudition and truth-seeking”, and the concept of “scientific integration and education through practice”. In the 2018 list of the top 20 universities with the highest student satisfaction issued by the National Ministry of Education, ZJWEU ranked third in Zhejiang Province.
ZJWEU is deepening international cooperation and exchanges based on its disciplinary characteristics, and steadily carrying out undergraduate education for international students. Currently, there are students from countries and regions such as Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan, Malaysia, Laos, etc. In 2024, the university will further expand the undergraduate education for international students who plan to study in China.
About Hangzhou
“A scenic and metropolitan capital in the southeast, Qiantang is forever prosperous”. With a history going back 2,200 years, Hangzhou is one of China’s seven ancient capitals. Today it serves as Zhejiang Province’s economic, cultural, technological and educational center.

Three world cultural heritages — the West Lake, the Grand Canal, and the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City — create a perfect balance between the poetic landscape and the magnificent architectures of Hangzhou, showing a vivid picture in which the rapid development of the city and the prosperous life of the citizens complement each other in a natural way.
Hangzhou has a robust economy driven by passions of entrepreneurship. Its total economic output ranks the top among China's provincial capital cities. For years Hangzhou tops the chart of China’s Best Investment Destinations. It is proudly the host city for the International Cartoon & Animation Festival, the West Lake International Expo and the World Leisure Expo. It successfully hosted the 19th Asian Games in 2023.
